Fahey Bank looks to expand its operation into Delaware County - Marion Star

The Marion-based bank announced earlier this week that it will be opening a new location near downtown Delaware next year. The company entered into a contract last week to purchase the Devore-Snyder Funeral Home on West William Street and will build a 5,000-square-foot facility for retail and commercial banking. The move is part of the bank's strategic plan, which aims to expand its presence in Central Ohio, according to chief operating officer Coleman Clougherty. "It will help us connect the dots around Route 23," he said. "It is the next step for us." While Fahey Bank already offers services across Central Ohio — including a loan office near Columbus — the new location in Delaware will be its first full service branch outside of Marion. "When you walk in there you can do anything you want. You can apply for a loan, you can deposit a check," Clougherty said. This will be the bank's first new branch in about 30 years and will include an ATM, drive-thru lanes as well as a teller line. Representatives with the bank said there will also be space in the location that can be used by community organizations. The move comes as the bank has been stepping up its lending services in the region. "Ideally we want to have a location in the area, either an ATM or a loan office, before opening up a full service branch," Clougherty said. Joshua Keeran The Gazette With three locations already existing in Marion, and a loan office located in Columbus, Fahey Bank is looking to continue to grow its business in Central Ohio. On Wednesday Dec. 5, the Delaware Planning Commission approved a combined preliminary and final development plan for a new branch to be constructed at 75 W. William St.DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home currently sits on the property, but the structure will be demolished to make way for the new bank branch.Fahey Bank’s proposal shows a two-story, 5,300-square-foot building that would be constructed out of a mixture of brick and limestone. Access to the bank will include two drives along Washington Street and one on William Street.The branch will feature three drive-thru bays and include 31 parking spaces. The duration of construction is expected to take anywhere from seven to 10 months.Coleman Clougherty, the bank’s executive vice president and chief operating officer, said the bank already has a number of customers in the area, and with a loan office located in Worthington, Delaware is a natural connection for the 153-year-old company.Asked how many workers the branch will employ, Clougherty said there will be eight or nine employees onsite.
